Gruner Veltliner can be placed somewhere between an aromatic white, say a Riesling, and something with a little more substance in the form of a Chardonnay. Deliciously vibrant and zippy, fresh floral, citrus, stone fruit and even some spicy pepper nuances set the framework for this light to medium bodied dry white that finishes with crisp, zesty acidity. The variety is a cool climate specialty that's native to Austria and a style that one of our favourite boutique Marlborough specialists has embraced with open arms. It's perfect with a bowl of freshly steamed mussels.
