Goose Island

Goose Island’s beer journey began with a trip across Europe, when founder (and unabashed beer lover) John Hall discovered a wealth of different, regional brews. Pint by pint, he savored the European styles and selections, and thought to himself, “America deserves some damn fine beer like this, too”. That was back in 1988, and Goose Island hasn’t slowed down since.

Home Base: Chicago, USA
Try: Goose Island IPA, Goose Island Midway IPA
The Stats: Established in 1988, Goose Island have won multiple accolades at the World Beer Cup Awards and the Great American Beer Festival, including three gold medals, three silver and one bronze since 2000.

The Story:

By 1995, John’s beer had become so popular that he decided to open a larger brewery, along with a bottling plant to keep up with demand. 1999 brought even more growth, including an additional brewpub, and today what was once one man’s pint-filled dream, has become the Goose Island empire. The current Brewmaster is Jared Jankoski.

Pick up an India Pale Ale – a hop lover’s dream with a fruity aroma, set off by a dry malt middle, and long hop finish – or a Midway IPA, an easy-drinking and accessible beer inspired by the Chicago ‘World’s Fair’ of 1893. Just like the fair itself, this is a beer to suit every taste.
