The Stats: In 2015, Brewmanity launched their first beer as part of a fundraising plan for sufferers of Motor Neurone Disease. They raised $50,000 in the initial event and have generated $150,000 for the Fight MND Foundation since.

The Story:

The team behind Brewmanity are passionate about making (and drinking) damn good beer, but their beginning came from a loftier – and much more personal – place. To support a mate who was suddenly diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

They kicked things off with a successful fundraising event (‘Victoria's Most Charitable Happy Hour'), and since then the crew have continued to release several small batch beers, along with their main beer ‘Social Beast’, with a portion of every beer sold going back to supporting the cause.

But the good deeds only come if there is good beer to go along with them! Their 'Chief-de-Beers' is Mick Jontef, who has a lifetime of experience developing hop extracts and brewing at CUB. He's now moved into the independent craft world and oversees all of Brewmanity’s brewing and recipe development.

With this beer, Mick and the team have developed an easy drinking pale ale, topped with enough pineapple and citrus flavours to deliver a delicious flavour burst. A balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness underpins the flavour profile to deliver a smooth and damn tasty beer.

And what about the name? On the surface 'Social Beast' is just a fun name about enjoying life with friends – but when you scratch the surface, there’s a layer of depth that underpins the fun. The Social Beast calls out the 'Social' element of what Brewmanity are doing and the 'Beast' of a disease they’re trying to fight.

The Social Beast - It not only tastes good, it does good too!
